Beginner's Sampler Scarf & Hat

Over New Year's The Animator's Wife had the pleasure of teaching her sisters how to crochet. Why has she never done this before in all the 18 years she's known how to do it? Don't know. But that silly little point has been rectified and now all the sisters know how to crochet!

Now you may or may not know, but Crochet Kitten was started to share our love of crochet with the world. We've had crochet tutorials since the very beginning and have had several people tell us that they are self-taught crocheters from our tutorials alone!

UPDATE: These patterns are now available in a convenient PDF download that includes all the tutorials in our Beginner's Guide to Crochet series. Purchase the PDF for a small fee in our Ravelry shop.

And for our new followers who are still learning how to crochet, we have something special for you. May I present the Sampler Scarf.

Beginner's Sampler Scarf & Hat

This scarf is the perfect way to practice beginner techniques or show off what you've learned. It's made from four different squares that each feature a specific set of techniques, including the iconic ripple and granny. We've designed it to be used in conjunction with our Beginner's Guide to Crochet, but it can be used as a stand alone pattern without the tutorials.

And once you're comfortable with that, you can move on to our Beginner's Hat.

Beginner's Sampler Scarf & Hat

This hat allows plenty of practice for crocheting in the round (especially for those who would like to do amigurumi). It also features that other iconic crochet stitch--the shell--and a simple flower. Like the Sampler Scarf, it is designed to be used in conjunction with the Beginner's Guide to Crochet, but can be used as a stand alone pattern.

Oh, I didn't tell you the best part. If you are a crochet teacher, you can feel free to make as many copies as you like for your students. We just want to share the love.
