Cabled Pineapples

We have decided that this is going to be the year of the pineapples. I've always loved the look of crochet pineapples, and if you saw our Transformation Shawl last week, you'll see that we incorporated pineapples into the bottom part of the shawl.

I don't know what it is I love so much about them. There's something about the shape and the rhythm as you work them. They have a definite pattern without being too repetitive. And there are so many variations on them that you'll never get bored with yet another pineapple pattern, which is why this year's stitch patterns of the month will all be some sort of pineapple.

This month we'd like to introduce you to Cabled Pineapples, which we used in our Missus Otis Mitts pattern. While this is not a true pineapple, lacking the traditional pineapple structure, it still has the basic pineapple shape. We like this one because of its texture and thought it would go nicely with a warm, thick yarn like last week's Karabella Aeros.
