Since The Animator's Wife is always seeking to combine crochet with her love for other things (hence all the crochet patterns relating to belly dance, fashion, kids, pets, cats, and geekiness--that sums her up!), she of course had to combine it with reading! And that is why we are pleased to announce our new book club.
Crochet Kitten Book Club
What is it?
Unlike other crochet book clubs, this club will not be limited to crochet books. In fact, the books will primarily be fiction, with some new crochet books thrown in. When the book is not crochet-related, we will publish a new free crochet pattern that relates to the book.
When is it?
The book club will be hosted right here at CrochetKitten.com on the first Wednesday of each month, at which time we will also publish the concurrent crochet pattern for any works of fiction. We will be focusing on a new book each month. At the end of the month we will publish The Animator's Wife's review of the book.
Who can participate?
Anyone! Since most of the books will be fiction, you don't even need to be a crocheter to join this book club. The crochet patterns are just bonuses for those of us who do know how to crochet. (And if you don't know how to crochet, check out our Beginner's Guide to Crochet if you'd like to learn!)
How can you participate?
This is the fun part! You can join any time and participate in any months you choose. As you read, feel free to post your thoughts on the book in the comments on that book's blog page so that we can have a discussion about it (but please don't post any spoilers until that book's month is over!). If you're not interested in a given month's book, don't feel obligated to read it. You can still read with us the next month. And if you're joining in the middle of the year, feel free to go back and read another month's book if you don't like the current month's book. We'll keep the comments open for all past books.
What are we reading?
Well the middle of the year might seem like an odd time to start a book club, but we're right at the beginning of summer, when road trips and plane rides go hand-in-hand with reading, so why not start now? This is what we have planned for the rest of the year.
