Boho Broomstick Lace Hat

Boho Broomstick Lace Hat

Finished Size: Adult

Skill Level: Intermediate

Materials:
MC (Crown): 128 yd 5/bulky weight yarn (Cascade Yarns 128 Superwash)
CC (Brim): 170 yd 4/worsted weight yarn (Vanna’s Choice)
Size J-10 (6.0mm) crochet hook
Two 20mm knitting needles
Yarn needle

Directions
Worked in broomstick lace in the round.

With MC, ch 18.

Rnd 1. Cast all 18 ch onto one knitting needle. Remove first 3 loops from needle, draw yarn through the loops with crochet hook, ch 1, 6 sc in same group of loops, *remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops; rep from * across. Join with sl st in first sc to form ring. 6 BL shells.

Rnd 2. Cast first 18 sc onto one knitting needle and rem 18 sc onto the other knitting needle. Remove first 3 loops from needle, draw yarn through the loops with crochet hook, ch 1, 6 sc in same group of loops, *remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops; rep from * around. Join with sl st in first sc in rnd. 12 BL shells.

Rnd 3. Cast first 36 sc onto one knitting needle and rem 36 sc onto the other knitting needle. Remove first 6 loops from needle, draw yarn through the loops with crochet hook, ch 1, 6 sc in same group of loops, (remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice, *remove next 6 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops, (remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice; rep from * around. Join with sl st in first sc in rnd. 18 BL shells.

Rnds 4-10. Cast first 54 sc onto one knitting needle and rem 54 sc onto the other knitting needle. Remove first 6 loops from needle, draw yarn through the loops with crochet hook, ch 1, 6 sc in same group of loops, *remove next 6 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops; rep from * around. Join with sl st in first sc in round.

Change to CC.

Rnd 11. Cast first 54 sc onto one knitting needle and rem 54 sc onto the other knitting needle. Remove first 6 loops from needle, draw yarn through the loops with crochet hook, ch 1, 6 sc in same group of loops, remove next 6 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops, (remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice, *(remove next 6 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice, (remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice; rep from * around. Join with sl st in first sc in rnd. 24 BL shells.

Rnd 12. Cast first 72 sc onto one knitting needle and rem 72 sc onto the other knitting needle. Remove first 6 loops from needle, draw yarn through the loops with crochet hook, ch 1, 6 sc in same group of loops, (remove next 6 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice, (remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice, *(remove next 6 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) 3 times, (remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice; rep from * around. Join with sl st in first sc in rnd. 30 BL shells.

Rnd 13. Cast first 90 sc onto one knitting needle and rem 90 sc onto the other knitting needle. Remove first 6 loops from needle, draw yarn through the loops with crochet hook, ch 1, 6 sc in same group of loops, (remove next 6 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) 3 times, (remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice, *(remove next 6 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) 4 times, (remove next 3 loops from needle, 6 sc in that group of loops) twice; rep from * around. Join with sl st in first sc in rnd. 36 BL shells.

Change to MC.

Rnd 14. Ch 1, sc in same sc as joining and ea sc across. 216 sc.

Finish off. Weave in ends. Block brim.
