Enter the crochet cloche. A cloche is a very elegant solution for winter accessorizing. The 1920s style is dressy enough for formal gatherings and warm enough to keep baby from freezing.
I know on the cusp of Spring we're a bit off-season to be posting this pattern, but the Lovely makes it a wee bit difficult to find time for pattern-writing these days.
Finished Size: Preemie (Newborn, 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-24 months)
Materials:
Worsted-weight yarn (less than a skein is needed)
Scrap 1/8-inch ribbon
Size H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle
Note: Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. To avoid confusion, it may be helpful to circle the numbers corresponding to your size before beginning this project. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes.

After row 12 you say row 5 again. Is this because it is simply a repeat of that row to finish the hat? This has been so easy to follow and so beautiful! Thank you for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for pointing that out! My apologies--that was a sloppy cut & paste job. It's essentially the same, except with 7-dc shells. I've corrected that in the pattern. :)
DeleteLOVE how simple this was and how quickly it worked up. I'll try to post a picture for you as soon as I figure it out on this phone. :)
DeleteWell. I couldn't get my picture to post on your Facebook page but I posted on mine. http//www.facebook.com/hawkcomom
DeleteHm, that's odd. I just checked--I do have the FB page set to allow fan pics. I think you can tag me in your picture though. But in any case, thanks for sharing! I'm glad you enjoyed the pattern. ^_^
DeleteHi hi thanks for this beautiful cloche. Quick question, do you have a gauge as to how many stitches to an inch or 4inches? It seemed that worsted weight terminology is not used here in asia. thanks.
ReplyDeletePardon my ignorance. But what do you mean 'worsted weight yarn less than a skein'
ReplyDeleteI only know 8ply, 12 ply etc
Worsted weight is a yarn classification system created by the Craft Yarn Council. It's roughly equivalent to 10 ply: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yarn_weight
