The FIV Kittens Are Negative!

That's right--the kittens had their appointment to get retested for FIV this morning, and they came up negative! No more looking for fosters or worrying about them having to be euthanized or sent to the FIV colony. They are negative! And the best part is, after playing footsie with them under the bathroom door for three weeks, Osiris and I finally get to meet them face-to-face!

Ozzy & Kittens

They've gotten mighty big in the three weeks they've been here. Now it's time to start looking for homes for them. And that's where I have more good news. While they were at the vet today, one of the receptionists fell head over heels for Skimbleshanks, the male kitten. She wants to take him home later this week to see how her other pets like him, and if things go well, it looks like he has a new home already!

Diane & Skimbleshanks 2

The girls, Bombalurina and Elliette, are still eligible for adoption. If you are interested, please contact either us or the fabulous Feline Foundation of Greater Washington, without whose help we would not have been able to give these babies a chance at life (Note: the kittens are not in FFGW's "system" yet, so it would probably be less confusing if you contact us directly). They will be staying with us until they find their forever homes, and you are more than welcome to come meet them if you think you want to adopt them.

Vet Visit

You may even get to meet me while you're at it--if I'm not catnapping somewhere, that is.

  1. Oh how I wish I lived in Washington, but I am on the opposite coast. They are such pretty kitties and I am so glad that this worked out for everyone!

  2. And even more exciting--as of this morning, we have potential homes for all three of them!

  3. Oh, I am so happy for these beautiful kitties! I love cats...I have two Sealpoint Siamese cats myself. I'd have more cats if my household allowed for it. They make excellent pets and friends.

  4. Very happy to hear this! Thanks for helping these little guys out.

  5. from you I got inspired to learn to crochet just to make those kitty beds.. and now when I see this i am very inspired once again, there is a stray outside that I have been feeding for almost 6 months and doing nothing more to help. It's time to stop being so selfish and find him a home. I will take him to a vet first.

i love your stories, for all of those kitties out there keep up the great work ;)

  6. Thanks Diana! I think everyone comes into our lives for a reason, and I'm glad you're able to help out the stray that's come into your life. ^_^
