Vintage Treasure

I have to say, I can't complain anymore about all the cuddle and crochet time missed while The Animator and His Wife are in their "spring cleaning" phase (Osiris calls it "nesting"), since the result of their organizing rampage has given Osiris and I a new place to catnap. Somehow The Animator managed to make enough room in his office to move in a new couch, and since The Animator's Wife finally finished the T-shirt quilt she started for him last year, they have created the perfect environment for mid-day snoozes!

T-shirt Quilt

Wanna know the best part? The Terror is no longer allowed in The Animator's office, so now we can nap in peace.

One more bonus has resulted from all this spring cleaning. The last time The Animator's Wife made a donation to the thrift store, she came home with a tattered envelope that smelled older than time itself. Within the envelope were some of the most beautiful crochet patterns I've ever seen--all dated from the 1950s or 1960s. Osiris says that's almost four cat lives ago!

Vintage Crochet

What an amazing treasure to find! It's like going back in time and seeing the evolution of crochet. I can't wait until The Animator's Wife starts her first project.

In other news... CrochetKitten.com is one of Woman's Day's favorite crochet websites! See the list here.

  1. Yaaay a safe haven for Selena K - good stuff right?!!

I love the throw - it is spectacular! I bet the Animator loves it, especially with a beautiful cat on it!

Wow those patterns must be SO interesting. Do they 'read' differently to today's patterns?

  2. Let's just say The Animator's Wife is working on a vintage toy kitten pattern right now (of course that would be the first one she picks!), and it seems to require a bit more intuition to figure out than today's patterns. I'll post some pictures this weekend. :D
